Directions to Squirrel Bank Cottage

By road, from the South

Exit the M6 at junction 36. Take the A590/591 towards Kendal. Ignore Signs for Kendal Town centre and A590 Barrow.
At the end of the dual carriageway, at the bottom of a steep hill, there is a large roundabout. Take the 1st exit, signed Hawkshead and Crook (B5284).
Stay on this road for approximately 8 miles, going thorough the village of Crook, with "The Sun" public house on the right, and on past the Wild Boar Hotel, also on the right.
When you reach Windermere Golf Club, which is on the left, there is 1 mile to go.
The Linthwaite Hotel is on your left and just beyond the brow of the the hill Squirrel Bank is on the left. If you reach the T junction at the bottom of the hill you have gone too far. Langthwaite cottage is in the grounds of Squirrel Bank.
If coming through Windermere Village, follow the A5074 until you come to a roundabout at the bottom of the hill. Go straight on and take the first left on to the Kendal Road. Approx. 3/4 of a mile on there will be a sign for Kendal. This is the B5284. Take this left turn and Squirrel Bank is one hundred yards up on the right.

By Road, From the North.

Exit the M6 at junction 40, Penrith. Follow signs for A66 Keswick for a quarter of a mile, until you come to a roundabout, then follow signs for A592 Windermere, Ullswater, Stainton. Follow this road to Ullswater, then turn right at the next T junction, staying on the A592, following signs for Glenridding, Kirkstone and Windermere.

Drive past Ullswater, on through Glenridding and Pattterdale villages, and over Kirkstone Pass, which is 1 in 4 up. From the top of the pass, follow the road down to Windermere. At the bottom you will come to a mini roundabout. Go straight across, following signs for Bowness. At the next mini roundabout turn right, then take the first left on to the Kendal Road. Approx. 3/4 of a mile on there will be a sign for Kendal. This is the B5284. Take this left turn and Squirrel Bank is one hundred yards up on the right.

Alternatively, drive down M6 and exit at junction 36 and follow directions from the south
